This is really a nice wireless printer that is also a scanner and copier, and it works simply and as you would expect. I use it as a wireless network printer/scanner with a Windows7 desktop, Windows10 laptop, linux opensuse13.2 for both printing and scanning, and ipad air, ipad new, iphone 4,5s,6s for printing. All these machines and devices work perfectly.The printer comes with a cd full of software and drivers for setup, but I did not use them initially, since I wanted to try linux first. So, I used the front panel to manual give the printer an address on our wireless network, and our network password and it had no problem attaching to our network. I went to Brother on the web and downloaded linux software (.rpm), followed their instructions, and it added the printer drivers and printer into the print subsystem cups. I did need to edit the entry to set the address, but otherwise I was done - it worked fine on linux. I tried scanning and that also worked with no problem or additional fiddling.Now on to Windows7 desktop pc. I did use the included disk for the Win7 desktop setup, did the default install, and that was done fairly fast and easy. I could print anything and scan with their utility fine. As well, you can stand at the printer and perform a scan through the front panel and tell it to send the scan to your windows machine, identified by name (which must be on). Nice, since a wireless printer/scanner may not be in the same room as you are (especially if you are on a laptop).Lastly, I went to the windows10 machine which coincidentally had been converting automatically from win7 to win10 overnight during all this, and saw that it had already found the printer on the network and had installed it, but incompletely, and no utilities were there. So I went to Brother on the web again, and they had a "de-install" program to get rid of previous drivers, and also downloaded the software package for a full install. This package probably matched the disks that came with the printer, but I was just trying every method out now. So I ran the downloaded install setup, and it did everything, and so the printer worked fine, and the scan utility worked fine.Finally, I pulled out my iphone and (installing nothing) simply asked the iphone to print a page, and there the new printer showed up, and I could just print, did not need to do anything. Tried with our ipads and new and old iphones and they all printed fine automatically.I also just tried to make a simple copy like standing at a copy machine, and that worked just as you would expect, all by itself, no computer around or needed. Had the obvious copy button, counter, etc., easy to use.All in all, this was the easiest printer and scanner I have ever set up across such a wide variety of devices. The quality of the print is excellent, the front panel has a lot of controls, but all the common things like printing, scanning, and copying are nicely laid out, easy to find and select and easy to perform.One thing I did not do was set up the printer initially from the pc utilities, since I knew what printer network address I wanted and the password and entered them directly from the front panel. Often setting up printers on wireless networks with passwords can be awkward, but since everything else was laid out so nicely by Brother, I am hoping there is a chance that they made that nice too, but I didn't try it. You can print out wireless/wired info from the front panel to get the wireless/wired MAC addresses.Also did not try wired ethernet connection, or the "direct" wifi (no network) - no need for me, the wireless worked for everything
